Discovery Eagles had talons out for Pumas
The Discovery Eagles beat the Pumas 64 to 53 in the Supersport Wheelchair Basketball Series final on Saturday at the Mandeville Sports and Social club in Johannesburg. This year marked the 14th year of the series, which the Discovery Eagles has participated since the event’s inception.

A large scale overhaul of South African rugby has been unveiled in a bid to take the sport to a new level in the country. The changes will take place on September 1, and will be fully operational by the time the Springboks travel to New Zealand for the World Cup.

As we all know by now, Joost van der Westhuizen has been facing some extreme challenges to his health and indeed survival. He recently returned from a leading international centre of Neurology at The Cleveland Medical Centre in Ohio, USA, but unfortunately his struggles are far from over. Joost has been diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, is a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
