Cheetahs 24 – 45 Highlanders

Outstanding victory for the Highlanders, showing some great touches in the first half especially. The game was over as a contest at the short whistle, as the Highlanders picked up 4 tries within the first half hour. The Cheetahs came into it for a period in the second half, but it was never going to be enough.

Lions 20 – 30 Brumbies

A sloppy first-half performance from the Lions cost them in the end. The Brumbies ran in three first-half tries to lead 22-6 at the break. This time there was no fairytale comeback for the Lions.

Waratahs 33 – 18 Sharks

The Waratahs started like a house on fire and then the Sharks came back to run them close. The Sharks had good set pieces but they just kicked too much and made some basic errors.
The Tahs managed to defend very well, and to up their intensity in the last 10 minutes to score a few points. Overall, a good game from the Waratahs. The Sharks are getting better but are not there yet.

Hurricanes 22 – 18 Chiefs

A fierce battle, but the Hurricanes managed to hold on for the win. The Chiefs fought hard to get the win but it was the gutsy Hurricanes defence who worked tirelessly to keep their lead intact. A well deserved win for the home side.

Reds 46 – 29 Rebels

A dominant second half performance gave the Reds a bonus point win as they dispatched the Rebels in no uncertain terms. The new man McIntyre joined Genia and O’Connor in taking the vistors apart.

Blues 23 – 18 Bulls

Despite being dominated for large parts of the match, the Blues edged the Bulls in a very tight affair. The Blues were well prepared for the Bulls’ mauling tactics and managed to largely nullify the Bulls attack. The visitors will be disappointed after enjoying the majority of possession and territory throughout the match.
