Tough-as-teak Johan Ackermann plays his third season of Super Rugby for the Sharks and is widely acclaimed for his contribution to an impressive Sharks’ tight five in the 2006 Super 14. He is known for his no-nonsense, physical approach to the game. Unfortunately, his Super 14 form, which saw him play in all 13 matches, did not translate into Currie Cup success for the Sharks initially, nursing injury for more than half of the competition before returning in the latter stages. Due to his superb performance in Super 14, Johan was selected for the End of Year tour to the UK, playing a formidable role in the Springbok tight-five.
